Irish Terriers
SEVERAL of you may have noticed Ann Bradley´s absence at The National. She was in Germany judging Irish Terriers at the Festival of Irish Terrier Breeds. Glen of Imaal, Kerries and Soft-Coated Wheatens were judged by Dutch and Swedish judges.
Ann tells me the event took place over two days. The first day consisted of grooming workshops and breed seminars while the second day included a spectacular parade of puppies and champions. Irish Terriers drew a record entry over 50 dogs providing some very strong competions. The quality was exellent and there were many tpy exhibits. Open bitches had an entry of 12 followed by the champion class with an entry of six.
Best Dog and Best of Breed was Sascha and Nicole Ruehl´s Ch. Darren von der Emsmühle and Res. Best Dog Petra Röder Haches and Robert Haches irish Fellow Bonaparte.
Best Bitch was Helmut and Ulrike Pagge´s Donegals Bilnd Date and Res. Best Bitch was Indian Summer von der Irish Bande.
Both Best Dog and Best Bitch were by Ch. Viscount von der Emsmühle whom Ann later visited at home with Hans and Karina Grüttner, locking every inch a champion at the age of 13.
Best in Show was judged by all three breed judges who made the unanimous decision to award Best in Show to he Irish Terrier with the Wheaten taking Reserve Best in Show.
